Ethel's Way

It was our mother, Ethel O'Brien's, wish that ownership of the maple woods would forever stay in the family.  She had the maple woods surveyed. The survey included an access way directly from Island Road.  The property was then deeded to her surviving fifteen children.

Prior to her death, she also provided the funds to have the new access way cleared from tree stumps, provided the road base for the new access, installed electrical power to the sap shed, as well as had a well drilled that provided the water requirements to run the operation.  The sap shed now was totally independent of the home.

A new trail in the woods was established to supply access directly from Island Road into the center of the maple woods.

*Trails were formally named in 2018 via a family voting system. This trail name was submitted by Jenifer (O'Brien) Richart and Dennis O'Brien.
